JULY 21st & 22nd - AKKAOA UKC SHOW in CLAREMONT, CA

Come out and meet many AKK! This is our annual July show in CA put on by AKKAOA so always a lot of AKK there and their owners too!

Past Shows & Events

November 4, 5 & 6 - UKC Show/AKK Specialty in Kentucky

Kentucky was a lot of fun and it was great to be able to meet some people in person that I only know from email, phone and websites! I took one of Kira's offspring and even though he had never been in a show, let alone flown across the country, he picked up two third places, one second, and one first - congrats to Qila (FKA Oli).

October 28 & 29 - UKC Show in Claremont, CA

Kira finished her Grand Champion at this show! She did really well and I am so proud of her!

October 15 - UKC Show in Bloomington, CA

We had a fairly good turnout for this one. It was a little chilly, but thankfully it did not rain. The AKK were the third to last breed to show, so we didn't even enter into Ring One until 3:30pm! Kira got one more leg towards her Grand, so I was pleased about that - it had been a while since we were in the ring together.

September 30 & October 1 - UKC Show in Tulare, CA

I did not attend - Dad's birthday and all!

August 19 & 20 - UKC Show in Claremont, CA

I only got a chance to stop by with Kira and Oli on Saturday - the other babies stayed home as Oli had a special date with his new mom to keep!

August 12 - UKC Show in Claremont, CA

I went and helped out showing. It was a short and sweet dog show weekend - kinda nice once in a while! The big news was that ANOTHER AKK won Best in Show! Congrats to Jennifer Cook and her Toki for their big win!

July 22 & 23 - UKC Show in Claremont, CA hosted by AKKAOA

Saturday was 115 degrees! I couldn't believe how hot it was, but we still had a good turn out. Being a ring steward is a lot of fun, but it means that I don't get to keep track of everything that happened with my breed in the ring, because each judge has their own ring and steward - :( On Sunday, it rained on the Champion class for the Poodles, but they weathered through it and we continued on. I got to meet some new AKK and their owners and I can't wait to get back into the ring again!

May 27, 28 & 29 - UKC Show in Claremont, CA

We had a GREAT turnout and saw some new Champions and Grands. The big highlight was that an AKK won BEST IN SHOW! This has only happened 5 or 6 times in the history of the breed and we are all very proud of 'PR' GRCH Wiebelhusk Kika Kiara for her big win! She happens to be Russell's favorite AKK ever since they met at the Pet Expo in 2005.

May 20 & 21 - UKC Show in Ontario, CA

We had 14 AKK represented on Saturday and 12 on Sunday! What a great turn out! Kira got one more leg towards her Grand Champion! Woohoo!

April 21, 22 & 23 - America's Pet Expo

What a GREAT photo of everyone at the event on Saturday! We had a great number of AKK and their owners there all three days. Our booth was VERY busy . . . so many people interested in this little husky type dog. Kira did well being petted and patted by 100's of people. It is a great event for socializing your dog, that's for sure. I had a blast as always and am looking forward to next year!

March 3 & 4 - UKC Show in Phoenix, AZ

We had a good turn out of California Klee Kai at this show. My little puppy Link took Best In Show Puppy! I was very proud of him! He did really well as a "show dog" - hanging out in his x-pen with the other puppies and being really animated in the ring. Julie's (Kenai Ridge Kennels) Jester is a new Grand Champion! Congrats to him!

February 18 & 19 - UKC Show in Tulare, CA

This show was different for me since I didn't have my own dogs to show. I got to help out showing some dogs from Kika's Klee Kai. Alasco's Wrangell Kain became a Champion along with Jennifer Cook's Toki. Of course, Koda did really well and took all 4 BOBs . . . GOOD JOB Koda and Violet!

January 14 - ARBA Show in Claremont, CA

I found out a few days before the show that Kira was eligible to obtain her Master Championship at ARBA. So I signed her as a Day of Show entry. All of the attendees voted to hold all four shows on Saturday. Kira earned her Master Championship in one day! It was nice to see some AKK people there that had not been there in a while because of new litters (I met FOUR little puppies at the show!)

December 10 & 11 - ARBA Show in Claremont, CA

I apologize to anyone who went to this just to meet Kira, because we weren't there. I found out that this show was only taking pre-entry via phone call and I called too late! Oh well. Kira still finished out the ARBA year as the #2 AKK. Good job Kira!

November 26 & 27 - UKC Show in Claremont, CA

We had a great group of AKK there. We had four or five Champion class dogs there. Julie Baker's Jester, Judy Tanines' Echo, Jennifer's Kukai, and my Kira all got one leg towards their Grand Champion! Congrats to us! Violet Hignite's Koda took Best of Breed at three shows. Good job Koda! The big surprise was Desarie's Kain taking Best of Breed at the last show! I had been working with him for a couple of weeks and he did such a great job! I was pleasantly surprised that he took BOB, but he is a very nice little man, so I guess I shouldn't have been.

November 12 & 13 - ARBA Show in Claremont, CA

I think a lot of people might have been dog showed out. We had three entries this weekend: my Kira, Violet's Koda, and Judy's Echo. Kira became an ARBA Champion at this show! I am so proud of her.

October 29 & 30 - UKC Show in Ontario, CA

I know I said I wasn't going to this show because was going to be pregnant, but I did since she's not! We had a very good turnout (13 dogs, I think in all). Kira is now a UKC Champion! I am very proud of her! Congratulations also to Desarie's Kiara and Violet's Koda, who also became Champions at this show.

September 10 & 11 - ARBA Show in Claremont, CA

This was a great show! The star of the whole weekend was Violet's Koda. He was bred by Desarie Fletcher of Kika's Klee Kai. This handsome dog went to Best in Show three times! He is very well-behaved and I really enjoy watching him in the ring. My Kira went to best in show the one time Koda didn't. (I think she flirted with the judge a little!)

August 13 - UKC Show in Ontario, CA

So many AKK were there! Kira took Best Female in one show and Best Reserve Female in the other.

June 24, 25, & 26 - Alaskan Klee Kai Specialty in Lucerne Valley, CA

This was a fantastic event! There were great goodie bags for the dogs and we had a great picnic with all the food and dog treats provided by AKKAOA. There was an amazing judge at the last show who really helped me with my handling skills, which weren't that great! I really had a great time getting to know more AKK people and learning more about showing.

May - ARBA Show in Claremont, CA

This was Kira's first show (mine as well!). I had such a good time that I vowed to go to every Southern CA show for the rest of the year! It is so fun to meet other AKK and their owners, as well as being connected to your dog in the ring. Kira did really well. We even went to Best in Show, which was funny because all those other dogs were standing absolutely still, while Kira was looking around and being curious as always. We didn't win that, but it was still a lot of fun.

March - Pet Expo in Costa Mesa, CA

This was the second year I have attended the Expo. Last year, I was on a wait list for my AKK puppy. This year, I brought her with me. She got a lot of socialization with all the interested people around. She even let this girl pet her head - though I don't think she likes it all that much! The Expo is a great chance to bring awareness of our breed to dog lovers. It's where I met my first two AKK (Mac and Mali), and that sealed the deal for me. There are a lot of vendors that give away free stuff and there are a lot of great, fun products to look at too.
