Factor VII InformationFactor VII is a blood clotting disorder that can (and needs) to be bred out of our breed. It is caused by a recessive gene, so with careful screening and testing, we can eventually breed this out. If you are considering purchasing a puppy, make to sure to ask your breeder if the parents have been tested for Factor VII. I want to know more about Factor VII. I got Kira's results back today (June 15th) and she is a carrier for Factor VII. This means that she carries the gene for the disease but is not affected by it. Her offspring will either get the Factor VII gene from her or the normal. For me, this means that she will only be bred with clear studs, so that we are not able to produce any Affecteds. Thankfully, the stud that we used for her upcoming litter was Clear, so her puppies will either be Clear or Carriers. |
